Thaimai App for iPhone: How to Download and Access Services
The Thaimai App is a revolutionary digital initiative by the Government of Tamil Nadu designed to bring maternal and child healthcare services to the fingertips of every mother. Integrated with the PICME (Pregnancy and Infant Cohort Monitoring and Evaluation) system, it serves as a secure bridge between the Department of Health and the citizens.
What is the Thaimai App?
Thaimai is a mobile-based health platform that digitizes the pregnancy journey. It tracks everything from the first day of registration (RCH ID) to the final vaccination of the infant. It acts as a digital health card that mothers can carry anywhere, ensuring their medical history is always accessible.
Why was this app created?
The app was developed to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates by providing timely alerts for check-ups and vaccinations. It eliminates the need to carry physical documents for every hospital visit and provides a direct emergency link to the 108 Ambulance and 104 Health Helpline.
Who is it for?
The app is specifically designed for pregnant women and new mothers in Tamil Nadu who are registered under the PICME system. It is used by mothers to track their health and by Village Health Nurses (VHNs) to monitor high-risk cases in real-time.
When should you start using it?
Usage should begin as soon as you receive your 12-digit RCH ID. This usually happens after your first official visit to a Primary Health Center (PHC) or when your VHN registers your pregnancy at your doorstep.
For Android Users:
If you are using an Android smartphone, you can enjoy the full features of the application, including the secure Face ID verification.
- Download: You can download the official app directly from the Google Play Store.
- Setup: To learn how to install the app and complete the mandatory facial authentication, please check our detailed blog post on How to Download and Face Verify the Thaimai App.
Important Note for iPhone Users:
Currently, the official Thaimai App is not available on the Apple iOS App Store. The app requires the "AadhaarFaceRD" service for identity verification, which is an Android-exclusive system at this time. However, iPhone users can still access all their records through the following methods:
- Safari Browser: You can access the official PICME web portal (picme.tn.gov.in) directly through Safari to view your ANC/PNC dates and vaccination records.
- Home Screen Shortcut: You can "Add to Home Screen" the PICME website to make it function like a web-app on your iPhone.
- Face Verification: If your VHN requires you to complete the Face ID (FRS) step, you may need to borrow an Android device for a one-time login to complete the verification, as this specific feature will not work on an iPhone.
While the native iOS app is yet to be released, the web-based portal ensures that iPhone users are not left behind in their maternal health journey.
